This is what started me with painting. I had lost my job about a month before my husbands 31st birthday. We were already on a tight budget before I lost my job and I didn't want him to go without a present. I figured I could paint him something, and really hoped it would work. He LOVES Scorpions and is a Scorpio (surprise surprise). The top part says SCORPIO, and the middle sign says FAMILY. His favorite colors are black and yellow. It was done on a 24x8" on a 1" canvas board with acrylics.

Noahs Diego and Pablo, Princess Ava, and Vals Butterflies
The first one is a picture of Diego and Pablo on a deserted island. It was for my (then) 4 year old for Christmas 2009. They were his two favorite cartoons and his room is full of their stuff. This picture tied it all together. This is a 12x12" on a 1/4" canvas board in acrylics.
This was a painting for my stepmom for Christmas 2009. She has always loved butterflies and just painted her room purple. This was done on a 24x8" on a 1" canvas board in acrylics.
The next one is a picture I painted for my cousin for her baby shower. She was having a girl and didn't like the color pink, so I figured every little girl needs to feel like a princess, so I used the princess from "Princess and the Frog" and made her dress purple. Since she was naming her daughter Ava, that is what I wrote. However, when her daughter was borned, she changed the name, so now I will fix it for her :D
This was am 18x20" on a 1" canvas board, done in acrylics.

Winter Fairy
This was a picture that was ordered by a friend at work. She had a fall fairy picture that she wanted for a winter theme. This was a HUGE undertaking for me, since I am not good at painting people. Not sure why, but I really struggle when it comes to people. We were both very happy on how it turned out.
REMINDER: THE FALL FAIRY IS A PRINTOUT, NOT A PICTURE I PAINTED.
This was a 10x10" on a 1/4" canvas board with acrylics. It was $20.

Reilly's Racecar
This was a picture for my sons 8th birthday this year (2010). He loves cars and picked out his favorite matchbox car from his room. If you look closely at the hood of his car and at the back of his car, it says his name REILLY and 8 for his birthday.
This was done on a 16x16" prestretched canvas board. it is 1/4 inch thick. Done with acrylics

Pokemon pictures....
Thought I would start saving my finished paintings here to show...the first ones are the "pokemon" ones I made for my boys.
This was Orion's picture. He picked his two favorite Pokemon. The one on the left is a "fire" pokemon named Infernape. The one on the right is a "dark" pokemon called Tyranitar.
This was a Christmas Present for Orion for 2009.
Both of these pictures are 24" wide, 8" tall, and 1" thick. both are done on prestretched canvas boards with acrylics.

The next 3 were for Easton for Christmas 2009. The one of the left is Starly. The middle one is Staravia (the next evolution), and the one on the right is Staraptor (the final evolution). This was Easton's favorite Pokemon, going through the evolutions in the game.

New Goals....
I have been painting for over a year now. I started when I lost my job and had to think of a cheap gift for my husband for his birthday. I decided to paint him a picture. It actually turned out very nice, and I decided to make the family pictures for christmas presents. At that time we were a family of 6 with just my husband's income as an Independent Contractor (in laymans terms-not a guarenteed income).
The pictures went over so well last Christmas that I decided to paint some more this year. I will admit that I am NOT good with people....painting people that is. I really struggle and it bothers me to no end. I did paint a portait for my husbands stepdad (of his father), but I don't think it turned out the greatest. Granted everyone is their own critic, but seriously I hated even giving it to him. It was hard working of a wallet sized, 20+ year old picture to start, but it drove me crazy for months trying to finish it.
Anyway, my goal now is to try to paint one new picture at least once a week. Almost all the pictures I was doing before I could get done in a day...usually about 4-6 hours. But one a week sounds a little more relaxing. I did have a few orders from friends...so that was a nice confidence boost :D. Depending on how everything goes Randy (my husband) has talked about setting up a website to place orders....but right now I am not ready for that....but in 6 months....who knows :D
Until then, getting the canvas ready, and the paint brushes in order....and we will see what happens!
